The choice of hotels is important in a trip. Our job is to find quality hotels, but above all hotels with a good value for money, because you want your trip not to cost you too much. With the hotels we work with frequently, we have negotiated rates, which we obtain thanks to our annual volume of activity. This allows us to take our margin without affecting your budget.
Here we present the hotels we use as a priority for each category and in each city. On average, these hotels are available 85% of the time, but this percentage varies depending on each property, the size of the group, the season and how far in advance you make your booking. If you are a large group and book your stay 1 month in advance during high season, there is much more chance that our hotels will have no availability than if you book for 2 people 6 months in advance during low season.
If our main hotel is unavailable, we use a hotel of equivalent category and price. However, for particular hotels that don’t really have an equivalent, for example 5* hotels, or for hotels you have chosen yourself and are especially attached to, we make pre-bookings before finalizing the contract.
Some clients prefer to choose their own hotels, and lately we have noticed the growing influence of the Trip Advisor website on these choices. We have no problem booking the hotels the client wants, and in a way this even takes the responsibility of the choice off our shoulders. However, we believe it is our duty to explain to you the biases that Trip Advisor's rankings and reviews can hide.
In Peru (and probably elsewhere), the importance of these reviews is such that some hotels do not hesitate to systematically post fake reviews, of course with the maximum rating. Of course, they cannot prevent their clients from posting real reviews, but they drown them out with the sheer number of their own.
So how do you sort out real from fake reviews? It's very difficult, but knowing concrete cases, we believe that hotels which appear in the top positions, have hundreds of reviews per year, and ratings above 95% are suspect. And in general, they are more expensive than others of the same level, precisely thanks to this good rating. We recommend taking Trip Advisor reviews with caution and trying to form your own opinion based on other criteria.
And why not trust us? After all, we really know the hotels, not just from photos, we visit them regularly and receive feedback all year round from our clients. We consider that the hotels we offer have the best value for money in their category. Otherwise, we would change them.
But of course, we don't have the absolute truth either. Our assessments are necessarily very subjective and depend on a large number of factors that can vary. We regularly change hotels based on our own research, but above all based on feedback from our clients. If you have very specific requirements about hotels, we invite you to review our selection and even visit the hotels' websites to get a more precise idea. In any case, don't hesitate to ask us for your own choice of hotels if you think they will suit you better.
We indicate the category for each hotel. This is our own assessment and is not always in line with the country's official categorization, which is often higher than ours. The aim is to try to bring ourselves closer to European or international standards, knowing that here as there, the criteria are always numerous and the category subjective and debatable.
Here is a brief description of each category:

We include meals on group trips: full board on “comfort” category trips and half board (lunches only) on “standard” category trips. For tailor-made trips, meals can be included upon request if the tour is accompanied by a guide.
Meals are an important moment during a group trip, a time to relax and enjoy good company, and also a time to discover the cuisine of the country visited. We are therefore very attentive to the quality of this service.
The meals we offer are, with few exceptions, starter-main-dessert menus with several options for each course. In some cases, there are also buffet formulas. Sometimes the guide chooses the restaurant depending on how the day unfolds, but in most cases the restaurant is booked in advance. Of course, as with hotels, quality varies depending on the location. Villages and small towns offer fewer and generally simpler options. You will find the list of restaurants planned for each stage in the description of each group trip.
Below is the list and photos of the main restaurants we work with, along with the menu served (subject to change by the restaurant). Menus are often difficult to translate because dishes do not always have an equivalent in English. We have therefore temporarily left them in Spanish, pending a better solution. Unless otherwise indicated, drinks are not included in the menus.

All our group trips are accompanied by a French-speaking guide, in addition to any local guides for certain visits. The role of the accompanying guide is fundamental to the success of a trip, especially with small groups of up to 12 people. That’s why we carefully select the guides who lead our group trips. Most of them have years of experience with us and receive nothing but praise from our clients.
For a tailor-made trip, you can also choose to have an accompanying guide, or prefer an unaccompanied trip with guides only for visits and excursions, depending on the size of your group and your budget.
Here are some of our main accompanying guides.

Born in Arequipa, Amador has been an official guide since 2009. Passionate about botany and nature, he enjoys learning new languages and dialects to help preserve them. He speaks French, English and a little Quechua, and also has a great passion for music.

With 20 years of experience, Carla combines her deep knowledge of Peru, gained in Arequipa and the countryside, with an international outlook developed in France and Italy. Passionate and attentive, she is dedicated to the well-being of every traveler, making sure they feel welcomed, understood and confident throughout their stay.

Percy is an official tourism guide from Arequipa and holds a degree in tourism and hospitality as well as a master’s degree in tourism management and consulting. He loves cooking and previously worked as a chef. He has been working as an accompanying guide since 2008.

Born in Arequipa, Juan Carlos holds a degree in business administration and is an official tourism guide in Peru. He loves languages and speaks French, English, Italian and Portuguese. He has been working as a professional guide for 10 years, with an unfailing smile, cheerfulness and sense of humor.

Born in Cuzco, Ruth holds a degree in tourism administration and planning from the San Antonio Abad National University of Cuzco. Passionate about Andean culture, she has worked as an official tourism guide in French and English for several years in Cuzco and Peru. Since 2010, she has joined our team and guides exclusively for Paprika Tours.

Silverio is Peruvian, originally from Amantani Island on Lake Titicaca. Since 2002, he has been an official tourism guide for the Puno region, in French and English. Since 2010, he has worked exclusively for Paprika Tours as a guide and operations manager in Puno.

A professional tour guide since 1989 and an accompanying guide since 1995, he studied at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés in La Paz, while also pursuing language training in French, English and Portuguese. Passionate about travel and Andean music, he practices his profession with enthusiasm and commitment. Deeply attached to his country, he draws inspiration from Bolivia’s cultural richness and authentic nature, which he enjoys sharing with travelers.

Juan Carlos has extensive experience as a guide in Bolivia, gained in Sucre, then in La Paz, in the Amazon, and even outside Bolivia as an accompanying guide in neighboring countries, in French, English and German. His excellent level of French, his kindness, his smile and his broad general knowledge are all qualities that make him a highly appreciated guide.
With a tailor-made trip built just for you, our team on the ground supports you from your first message until your return.
