–Overview of the route

Arrival at La Paz airport and transfer to the Rosario hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

* If you take this tour as an extension from Peru, you can arrive by bus from Puno or by flight from Cuzco.

In the morning, departure for the archaeological site of Tiwanaku, the political and spiritual center of a civilization that predated the Incas. Visit the thousand-year-old and enigmatic ruins of the Gate of the Sun and the Kalasasaya Temple, as well as the site museum. Return to La Paz in the early afternoon. Free time in the late afternoon and overnight at the hotel.

Early morning departure for the airport and flight to Uyuni, from where you set off on a 4x4 excursion across the Salar de Uyuni. Visit the train cemetery, then the village of Colchani on the edge of the salt flat, where salt is still harvested using traditional methods. The 4x4 will then venture out onto this immense sea of salt to reach Isla del Pescado, located in the heart of the salt flat nearly 80 kilometers away. From the top of this surprising "island", you'll enjoy an extraordinary view over the salt flat and Tunupa volcano, surrounded by giant cacti. You'll have a picnic there and will likely also enjoy the astonishing optical illusions and flattened perspective created by this unique landscape. Return to Uyuni in the evening. Overnight at the Tambo Aymara hotel.

In the morning, departure by bus to Potosi (about 4 hours), a city located at an altitude of 4,000 meters that was once one of the largest and richest in the world. Free time in the late afternoon to explore the city. Option to visit the Casa de la Moneda, founded in 1572 by the Spanish viceroy Francisco de Toledo, which minted coins using silver extracted from Cerro Rico for several centuries. The machinery from the colonial and republican eras is now on display in the museum. Overnight at the Coloso Potosi hotel.

In the morning, visit the Cerro Rico mines, this mountain incredibly rich in silver, which brought prosperity to Potosi and to Spain from the 16th century onward. Mining of the deposit over the centuries, right up to today, has left behind an incredible maze of galleries. You will go inside to see how today's miners continue to work the secondary veins. In the afternoon, departure by bus to Sucre (2-3 hours' drive). After the altitude of Potosi, you'll appreciate the mild climate of the valley at 2,800 meters altitude. Free time in the late afternoon and overnight at the Capital Plaza hotel, in the heart of the colonial city.

Departure in the morning to the Recoleta viewpoint for a panoramic view over the city of Sucre. You then head back down to the historic center to visit the textile museum, where the various types of Andean textiles and weaving techniques are displayed and explained, from pre-Hispanic times to the present day. Next, visit the Casa de la Libertad, where the country's independence was proclaimed, now a museum on the history of Bolivia. Free afternoon to enjoy this pleasant colonial city, and overnight at the hotel.

In the morning, transfer to the airport and flight to La Paz. Transfer to the Rosario hotel. In the afternoon, visit La Paz, a capital set in an unbelievable landscape, spread out between 3,200 and 4,000 meters altitude. Starting at the lower end of the city, you begin with a visit to the Valley of the Moon, a canyon where water has eroded the very crumbly rock into hundreds of fairy chimneys. You then head back up, passing through the modern and residential neighborhoods, to the historic center, home to the presidential palace, the parliament and other colonial-era buildings. You'll also visit the Kilikili viewpoint to enjoy a magnificent panoramic view over the city, and finish with a visit to the "witches' market". Overnight at the hotel.

Transfer to La Paz airport to catch your international flight. End of our services.

* If you take this tour as an extension from Peru, you can take a bus to Puno or a flight to Cuzco.
