A tailor-made trip is a trip that you take alone, as a couple, with family or with friends, as opposed to a group trip with fixed dates that you share with other participants.
In this section you will find sample trips, which will give you some ideas for itineraries, activities and prices. These are of course only examples that you can modify as much as you like. You can also send us your own project, even if it differs from everything you can see on our site. The main advantage of a tailor-made trip is the freedom you have to choose the length of the trip, the departure date, the itinerary, the hotels, the excursions, visits and other services, all according to your interests and your budget. During the trip itself, you are also freer than during a group trip, particularly for meals, which are almost always free/optional in tailor-made trips.
During a tailor-made trip, you can opt for some services in a group, in order to reduce the budget. This is what we recommend for certain excursions that involve fairly long, and therefore costly, transport, particularly for solo travelers or couples. On the other hand, we always offer city tours as a private service. Similarly, for solo travelers or couples, we recommend using public transport rather than a private vehicle for journeys between the different stages, again for budget reasons.
If you are a group of 4 people or more, it then becomes worthwhile to take private services for most excursions and transport. For groups of fewer than 7-8 people, we recommend guides for each excursion and visit rather than a tour leader. If you are a larger group, having a tour leader for the entire stay then becomes more worthwhile.
These are of course general guidelines, and it is ultimately you who will decide on the services you wish to include in your trip. If you are hesitating between two options, do not hesitate to ask us for a quote for each of them.
If you want to take part in activities or visit places that are not included in our group trips, or if you appreciate the freedom of traveling alone, a tailor-made trip is what will suit you best. If, on the other hand, you prefer the security of being fully taken care of and the friendliness of a small group of up to 12 people, choose one of our group trips.
From a pricing point of view, the group trip works out cheaper than a private trip with equal services. In particular, the services of a French-speaking guide for the entire stay and private-vehicle transport will be significantly more expensive for a tailor-made trip for 2 people than for a group of 12. On the other hand, if you opt for public transport and guides only for excursions and visits, a tailor-made trip can end up costing a similar price to an equivalent group trip.
